Internship Program

Civic Nation considers it a part of our mission to support and encourage the educational goals of the next generation — we aim to empower future change makers to create a more inclusive, equitable America. You will have the opportunity to help strengthen democracy, foster civic engagement, increase voter participation, address public health crises, and/or fight for gender equity.

Objective

Civic Nation’s internship program is designed to provide you with a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work and the opportunity for career exploration and development. The key objective of the program is to help prepare you to be successful in the workplace — to help you develop the competencies that employers consistently indicate they seek in new hires.

Learning Outcomes

By participating in this program, you will:

  • Develop effective work habits, including time management, punctuality, and personal accountability.
  • Develop and improve communication and analytical skills.
  • Develop interpersonal skills which will enable you to build professional relationships, work within a team structure, and to manage conflict in the workplace.
  • Develop the ability to interact respectfully with all people and understand individuals’ differences.
  • Develop a clearer understanding of your career interests.

Program Structure

Civic Nation hosts interns each Fall, Spring, and Summer for approximately 12 weeks each semester. Positions are paid at the rate of $17.00 per hour and are remote. Hourly rate may be adjusted to comply with state and local minimum wage requirements. Dates and hours are flexible, though interns are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
